Poster: Japanese threat to Australia, WWII

He's Coming South

Australia declared war against Germany on september 3, 1939, shortly after invasion of Poland. Voluntary units were sent to North Africa.

With the Japanese advance toward Singapore, Australia began to improve home defenses for protection against Japanese offensive operations.

As war loomed with Japan, a division was recalled from Middle east and the Citizen Military Forces (CMF) and Royal Australian Air Force were expanded.

The poster gives three choices to the citizens of Australia: Fight, work, or perish.
