Production in war time

A shortage of labor in the work force was created as men left for war, and production was increased due to the war demands. This created millions of jobs during World War II and unemployment ended. The government encouraged able civilians to 'produce' in answer to the demand for war time goods and encouraging the idea that civilians on the home front were vital to winning the war.
